What is Regional Interdependence?
Regional interdependence is where seemingly unrelated problems cause symptoms elsewhere in the body and feed on the symptoms caused by each other.
1. This could present in multiple ways:
- Pain in one part of the body causes pain in another
- The cause of your symptoms/pain may be from a part of the body that exhibits no symptoms/pain in itself. This is common when there is an undetected tightness, disease, or a scar from a very old injury.
- When more than one body part changes normal alignment leading to wear and tear in another part.
RI model considers musculoskeletal pain like a needle on a clock. The needle moves only when the multiple gears are working together to make the needle move. In the RI model, the clinician finds the most amount of the gears and addresses them individually and in cohort.
Treatment and the results received using the RI model are truly magical! By treating every component involved in your disease/pain you are able to recover quickly and identify other health issues you might need to address. This is a true (w)holistic approach with adequate evidence.
