A More Complete Way to Approach Physical Therapy
Pain is often more than a problem in one isolated area. Shoulder pain may be influenced by the neck, upper back, rib cage, posture, nerve sensitivity, breathing mechanics, or the way you move throughout the day. Back, hip, knee, or foot pain can also be affected by how the surrounding regions of the body share load and compensate.
RAPHA approach treats not just the symptom, but it looks at the causes behind these problems, caring for the body as a whole.
Gone are the days of isolated thinking. Our team of certified physical therapists is filling that void by addressing all problems simultaneously. We’re not just looking at the mechanical parts of it, but we’re looking at the different body systems and analyzing how they’re all interrelated & working together to find you the ultimate pain relief.
RAPHA physical therapy approach makes body systems work as a whole unit to heal, restore and rehabilitate with the least amount of pain.
I went with pain in my shoulder and arm for more than a month… after one visit, it was gone forever. It’s really magical.

With detail-oriented evaluations, our physical therapists look beyond the painful area to identify the movement, mobility, strength, nerve sensitivity, posture, balance, and daily activity factors that may be contributing to your symptoms. Through the RAPHA™ approach, we connect these findings into a treatment plan focused on measurable improvement and lasting recovery.
RAPHA™ is a whole-body physical therapy framework that helps us identify the key drivers of pain and dysfunction, rather than treating symptoms in isolation. As your movement improves and your body tolerates activity with less pain, you progress into the Integration Stage, where treatment focuses on restoring strength, confidence, and long-term function.
Three Stages of RAPHA
Stage 1 – Identification Stage
- In the Identification Stage, your physical therapist performs a detailed evaluation to understand what is contributing to your pain or limitation. This may include movement testing, posture assessment, joint mobility testing, strength screening, nerve sensitivity testing, balance assessment, soft tissue assessment, and functional movement analysis.
- Instead of focusing only on where you feel pain, we look at how different regions of the body may be connected to your symptoms. We also observe how your pain and movement respond to specific hands-on techniques, positioning, and corrective movements. These immediate changes help guide your plan of care and identify the areas that need the most attention.
- Together, we establish a clear baseline, set meaningful goals, and create a personalized treatment plan focused on measurable improvement and lasting recovery.
Stage 2 – Assimilation Stage
- In the Assimilation Stage, your therapist begins connecting the findings from your evaluation into a focused treatment plan. Because pain is often influenced by how different areas of the body work together, treatment may include regions beyond the exact location of your symptoms.
- The goal is to reduce unnecessary stress on painful tissues, improve mobility, restore better movement patterns, and help your body tolerate activity with less pain. Treatment may include hands-on therapy, movement retraining, therapeutic exercise, posture and breathing strategies, and education for daily activity.
- As movement becomes more coordinated and less guarded, many patients begin to notice improvements in mobility, strength, function, and pain control. This stage helps you learn how to move better, improve function, and manage symptoms more confidently if they return.
